Awareness

Awareness is the result of living a creative life. Awareness allows artists to appreciate the most minute details of their daily lives. These details provide seeds of inspiration and ideas for art. The cultivation of awareness fuels creativity because the action opens the artist to the universe.

Creativity

Creativity is the ability “to bring something into existence that wasn’t there before” (1-2). Everyone is creative because everyone creates something on some level throughout their life. The artist is someone who makes their existence an act of creation.

Meditation

Meditation is a method of quieting the mind and cultivating awareness. This practice allows artists to detach from their egos and connect to The Source. Meditation is an essential technique of creativity. Although Rubin recommends meditation, he doesn’t provide any specific technique or method for the activity.

The Source

The Source is the infinite abundance of the universe. Artists tap into this bounty of ideas by practicing their creativity through art. Rubin refers to The Source as an always generous yet ineffable order of the cosmos. Meditation, physical activity, and acts of creation can bring individuals closer to the communications of The Source.
