  • This 17-minute video from the ITN Archive shows the turbulent social unrest that swept Romania in the two months after Nicolae Ceaușescu and his wife, Elena, were executed on Christmas Day in 1989.
  • The scenes depicted in this footage show an outpouring of emotion from the Romanian citizens, rallying against the communist dictatorship. Their pent-up frustration is, perhaps, in part related to the heightened state of Loyalty and Betrayal that comes along with living under such a regime.
  • What strikes you about the teenagers in this footage, many of whom would be around the age of Cristian at this time? In the various scenes, where would Cristian most likely be?
